History
The Vimaleshwar Cave Temple in Wada, Devgad, India is believed to have been built 2,000 to 3,000 years ago. Some say the temple was built by the Pandavas in one night. The temple is made of stone carvings and is dedicated to the form of Shiva known as Vimaleshwar, or a "Swayambhu" shivlinga. Visitors often praise the temple's intricate details and connection to history. Some say the temple is very old and cool, with only the sound of a stream and birds' songs.
How to reach
To reach the temple at Vimaleshwar, a train from Mumbai should reach Kankavali station. From there, a ST bus going to Vijayadurg passes through Wada village. If you do not get a direct bus from there, one can go to Deogarh and catch the bus to Vijayadurg. On the Mumbai-Goa highway, one passes by the village of Tarala on its Mumbai-Goa highway. The road can also reach Wada village.
