The Shiv Mandir of Ambarnath is a historic 11th-century Hindu temple, still worshipped, at Ambarnath near Mumbai, in Maharashtra. 

History

Ambreshwar Shiva Temple is a Prachin Shiva Temple known locally as Puratana Shivalaya. It is situated on the bank of [vrindawan] river, 2 km away from Ambarnath railway station. It is believed that the temple was built by Pandavas in just one night in a huge single mass of stone during their period of vanvaas. The temple is considered one of the oldest temples built in the middle of the eleventh century there is no such temple anywhere else in the world.

How to reach

Ambreshwar Shiva Temple lies about 2 kilometers from Ambernath Railway Station (East). Prachin Shiv Temple located just 50 km from Mumbai, Ambernath Shiv Mandir is one of the cultural heritage sites ranked by UNESCO in the state of Maharashtra, India. This temple has 20 steps to decrease the general area called Gabhara;  as well as there is one shivling at the center of the space.
