History
Songiri Fort is a small fort in Maharashtra, India that has been in the possession of the Farooqi Sultans since 1370, the Mughals, the Marathas, and the British. The fort is located 2,500 feet above sea level and offers a two-hour trek. The trek is considered suitable for people with moderate endurance. The trek is popular with the trekking community and offers views of Rajmachi Fort, Bor Ghat, Dhak, and Prabalgad Fort.
How to reach
By train, Palasdhari railway station is the starting point of this trek. This is the first station from Karjat on the Karjat- Khopoli local line. Hence the easiest way is to reach Karjat railway station which is easily accessible from both Mumbai & Pune & change trains to reach Palasdhari.
You can take the ST bus to Boregaon Phata and then walk 5 kilometers to reach Sondewadi village, where you can take any vehicle to your destination. You can also take the Karjat bus and get down at Borgaon Phata, or reach Chouk and take a rickshaw to Karjat and get down to Borgaon Phata. From Borgaon Phata, you can take an EECO that runs between Borgaon Phata to Ambewadi every hour for Rs 40 per seat. You can also negotiate a drop to Sondewadi with a rickshaw or tum tum driver, which would cost around Rs 350-400 for one way.
