Situated in Ganapatipule and 21 km from Ratnagiri on the way to "Purna Gad" is the well-known Ganapati temple. Nestled in the green location, the Swayambhu (Swayambhu means self-made , this is a temple of the self-originated idol, Ganapati) Ganapati temple is almost 4000 year old as the village gets its name Ganapatipule by the lord Ganesh of the "ganas" or army and "pule" which means sand dunes. Ganapatipule is one of the "Ashta Ganapatis" (eight Ganapatis) of India and is known as "Paschim Dwar Dewata" (the Western Sentinel God). The beautiful temple is made of one massive rock that beholds your sight like nothing else. The temple is flocked by people from all over the country, and the number of devotes multiply during the Ganesh festival when the place is more beautifully endowed.
